In countries throughout the world, there are remote towns and villages that remain untouched by the Bible. It was in one of these villages that a young woman realized that she was loved by Christ by hearing a Bible verse for the very first time: John 3:16.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
In the Philippines, the dominant religion is Christianity but in many villages, paganism is still followed and exercised. For Leny, a 12-year-old girl, the pagan belief system did not bring peace or promise to her life, causing her to consider marriage to find meaning and purpose. Meaning and purpose came to her, however, through a verse from the Bible.
“For God so loved Leny that he gave his one and only Son, that if Leny believes in him, Leny shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Christian teachers who are equipped with the proper resources to share God’s Word, helped Leny embark on her adventure with God. Knowing that God not only sent His Son for the world but for her as well, helped Leny see just how valued she is to her Heavenly Father. She was able to share this joy and peace with her family and see God’s Word transform the hearts of those she loved.
Many of us have grown up reciting and learning about John 3:16 but have lost its true meaning over the years. In this verse, God is stating that we are loved beyond what we can imagine and that through Him, we can find true freedom and forgiveness. Embrace John 3:16 today and reflect on its meaning in your life, as Leny reflected on it in hers.
He sent His son for the world, because of His love for us.
