A Future of Change

The Philippines is a beautiful country that is home to over 98 million people. Consisting of over 7,000 islands, the Philippines is teeming with wildlife and rich cultures and languages that never cease to amaze those living in and visiting the country. Despite the beauty and the unique geographical landscape, however, this country is currently experiencing incredible hardships economically, socially and politically.

Poverty affects families in countries throughout the world; it is nothing new. In the Philippines, 30% of the population lives below the poverty line. The economic gap continues to be an issue in the Philippines, making it difficult for families and individuals to succeed once they have been placed within the lower class. Corruption, natural disasters, and political unrest have also played a huge role, making it difficult for people to find hope during these hard times.

Over the years, churches have taken root in communities and have grown to be able to share God’s Word with those who are desperate to hear it. Without the proper training of church leaders, however, cults and sects have formed that have skewed Christian teachings, leaving many people questioning the Bible.

The Filipino government has recognized the profound impact that Biblical teachings have on children’s lives, and have requested that Bible League teach faith-based programs in public schools in communities throughout this country. Children are embracing what we have to teach them about Christ and are viewing the world in a whole new way. Parents have seen incredible changes in their children and have come to know Christ through them!

Children are the future of the Philippines, and through the work that is done to spread God’s Word, the future of this country is placing their trust in Him.

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
